Blue Mountain is best known as a skiing destination.  Every winter thousands of people flock there to enjoy some wonderful skiing in its over 30 skiing and snowboarding runs.  In the summer, however, Blue Mountain turns into a tourist’s delight, a place filled with innumerable outdoor activities where everyone can enjoy not only the breathtaking landscape and stunning scenery, as well as wonderful beaches, but also its vibrant cultural, culinary and recreational scene.

At the centre of it all, right at the foot of the hills, is the Blue Mountain Village, a picturesque and colourful resort that not only offers accessible accommodations, but also a variety of restaurants, over two dozen shops, bars, cafés and a vibrant nightlife that will satisfy all tastes: from enjoying live music under the stars, or simply enjoying a casual meal and a cold drink or if you feel like dancing, as well as plenty of night clubs where everyone can enjoy a fun night out with friends.

Families can also take advantage of the surroundings in the summer days, be it just strolling down the cobblestone roads shopping for a little something to remember the place by, grabbing a quick bite to eat at any of the casual or fine restaurants in the Village, sipping a cup of coffee, enjoying a Beavertail or having a drink at any of the patios.  For the more adventurous, they can take advantage of the many affordable activities (some are new this year) right at the resort: minigolf at the Cascading Putting Course, climbing the 35 feet tall Climbing Wall, biking tours (where you can go up the gondola followed by a scenic bike tour along the top of the mountain), going for a fast-paced exhilarating ride on the Ridge Runner (Blue Mountain’s rollercoaster that’ll give you a glimpse of the top of the mountain at speeds of over 42 km. per hour), a good adventure challenge at the High or Low Ropes, or you can settle for some low-adrenaline and relaxing activities like hiking around the mountain, or boating and fishing right at the Mill Pond, at the centre of the village.

If you enjoy swimming, there are plenty of water activities to enjoy in the summer.  Located just steps away from the village, at the base of the mountain, Plunge! Aquatic Centre will have young and old giddy with excitement, enjoying the indoor and outdoor pools, an indoor water park, slides, ropes and docks.  There are also beautiful beaches nearby, all within minutes from the resort and surrounding areas, right on Georgian Bay. Popular Wasaga Beach is also a few minutes away.  Canoeing and Kayaking either at Beaver River or Georgian Bay are also popular activities in the summer.  There are also plenty of biking and running trails, for those active adventure seekers, and in this way, enjoying the scenery and discovering some little hidden gems in the area will be much easier.

Finding accommodations to this heavenly place couldn’t be easier.  You can check out the Blue Mountain resort and search for good deals through them, or you can try to find accommodations through any of the many other rental places, condos and cottages that are available in the area with a quick online search.

This summer the Blue Mountain Village is hosting an array of festivals and activities, such as the Famarama Festival, the East Coast Open and Downhill and XC Mountain Bike races, the Collingwood Elvis Festival @ Blue (one of their most popular festivals every summer), the Beach Party on the long weekend in August and the Summer Sundown Festival at the end of August, which sadly announces the end of the summer, but is just one more of the many fun festivals that continue year round at Blue Mountain.
