Hi. Welcome to Alma Latina Online Magazine. My name is Alma Sandoval Betancourth.   On this site, I intend to write about many areas of interest, hoping to inform and entertain you, the readers, and also showcase the many articles I have written throughout the years that I have worked as a Freelance Writer and photographer for various publications, both in Spanish and English.

I have written mostly about people and events that pertain to the Hispanic community in Canada. I have interviewed many famous musicians and many budding artists as well, all of whom have one thing in common: their lives and their passions are worth writing (and reading) about. Like Oprah always says, everybody has a story, and I have had the luck and privilege of having been granted access to so many of them. Hearing their stories and peeking through the windows of their souls has been inspirational and educational, not only for me, but (hopefully) for all those who’ve read my articles.

About Me: I have a BA in Political Science/Communications from York University and also an Advanced Journalism Diploma from Humber College.  I’m currently completing a Business Management certificate through Ryerson University.  I work as a Closed Captioning Editor for Bell Media.  I am of Nicaraguan descent, married to a Nicaraguan as well (Alex) and we’re the proud parents of two wonderful boys, Alex Fabián (16) and Jalen Gabriel (9).  We live in Pickering, Ontario, Canada.

Hola! Bienvenidos a Alma Latina Online Magazine. Mi nombre es Alma Sandoval Betancourth. Es mi intención escribir en esta página sobre muchas áreas de interés para todos ustedes, los lectores, con la esperanza de informarles, entretenerlos y al mismo tiempo hacer una muestra de los muchos artículos que he escrito a lo largo de varios años de trabajar como reportera ocasional para varios de los medios de comunicación hispanos aqui en Toronto.

He escrito un sinnúmero de artículos sobre personajes destacados de nuestra comunidad y eventos latinos en Toronto.  He tenido también la oportunidad de entrevistar a varios artistas de fama internacional asi como también a muchos artistas locales, todos llenos de talento y que tienen algo en común: su vida y el arte que los apasiona han sido verdaderamente una inspiración.  Oprah dice que todos tenemos una historia que contar y yo he tenido el privilegio de haber tenido acceso a una ventanita en cada una de estas historias que espero compartir con ustedes para aprender de ellas y para que nos sirvan también de inspiración.  Espero que las disfruten!

Sobre Mi: Graduada en Ciencias Políticas/Ciencias de la Comunicación en la Universidad de York y también graduada con un Diploma Avanzado en Periodismo de Humber College.  Actualmente estoy por completar un certificado en Administración de Empresas en la Universidad de Ryerson.  Trabajo como Editora de Closed Captions para Bell Media.  Mi esposo, Alex, y yo somos Nicaragüenses y padres de dos hijos maravillosos: Alex Fabián (16) y Jalen Gabriel (9).  Vivimos en Pickering, Ontario, Canadá.
